Nar-Phu Valley trekking Hidden through swirls of mountain mist in advance of us, from Kangla bypass at 5200m the mind-blowing landscape view of Annapurna massif appears remote and forbidding.
Our robust mountain ponies each few steps, their steaming sweat-soaked bodies heaving. at the back of us Hongde airport, which we left on the back of early within the morning, is a tiny speck. Our vacation spot is the Nar-Phu valley, above the tree line at the top limits of cultivation, within the very north of Manang district. It takes five hours attaining the pass that links Nar with Manang and 3 other Bhotia villages inside the Nyershang down the valley. in recent times, Nar Phu the populace about three hundred population who rely upon livestock, in contrast to maximum Bhotia human beings, whose buying and selling patterns modified significantly after the Nepali government closed borders with Tibet, the humans of Nar and Phu valley have been least laid low with this modification. The tortuous path main from the valley into Tibet had in no way made them depending on the salt trade, and till these days yak herding is the basis of their livelihood.
besides the Kangla linking Nar to the Nyeshang valley, the most direct course from Kathmandu to Nar and Phu is along the Marshyangdi River. tourists trek thru the Himalayan foothills and spherical the Japanese cease of the Annapurna earlier than they come at Qupar, a police check submits half and hour earlier than Chame, Manang's district headquarters. From here an extended and steep trail winds up to Nar and Phu whose villagers, laden with items purchased in Chame and even decrease down in Besishhar, the give up of the street head leading to Manang, often camp at Dharmashala, a rudimentary wood hut constructed by using the humans from the 2 villages.
The Nepal government's current selection to open up Nar and Phu to vacationers has evoked little enthusiasm some of the villagers, whose pastoral lifestyle keeps. aside from the typical researcher and hiking expeditions accepted to climb Him lung, Ratnachuli, and Gachikang, few foreigners has visited the vicinity and tourism infrastructure is almost non-existent. since Annapurna Conservation region undertaking (ACAP) currently extended its network to consist of Nar and Phu Valley, it is getting ready an appropriate tourism improvement plan at the request of the authorities for an undiscovered valley.
